Property

The LOC facilities and natural setting support our distinct educational philosophy and provide a safe, unique, and rewarding experience. We are set on 220 acres abutting the Lake Michigan shoreline in the heart of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. This gorgeous location produces a natural outdoor classroom students will remember.

Lodging

Overnight programs include access to one of our designated lodging options: rustic cabins or winterized bunkhouses.

  • Cabins - the rustic bluff cabins are a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors, located right on the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. Cabin capacities vary between 10-18. These cabins are available only as the weather permits.

  • Winterized Bunkhouses - the winterized cabins, Orion and Gemini, are an excellent place for a warm night’s sleep. Gemini has two pods of 20. Orion has four pods of 16. Each pod has its own bathroom.

Facilities

While most of the activities take place outdoors, there are spaces available for indoor activities when the weather could be more favorable.

  • The Great House - our main building was built in the early 1900s. It has been renovated to include a modern dining hall and a large open area for meetings, games, and gatherings.

  • Leelanau Lodge - a newer building with a large open area and dual-sided barn doors that can fully open to create a beautiful indoor/outdoor space.
